About

JAAGROACH is jaagrook (जागरूक — aware, awakened) plus roach — the survivor. It's written by Akshay Chouksey: current events, civic problems, ideas half-finished, and the occasional solution that might actually work.

The metaphor is deliberately counter-glamorous. Civic work isn't heroic, it's persistent. Gutte the cockroach has outlived every flood, heatwave, ten-hour power cut and grand plan ever announced, and he's still taking notes.

Two labels, always

Everything published here carries one of two labels, and the difference is the whole point:

• Gutte Speaks — Opinion. One person's read, argued in the open.You are reading one person's argument. Disagree freely.
• Gutte Reports — Sourced and neutral. Claims carry a tier and a link. Claims carry a source tier from T1 (official — gov data, court rulings, gazette) down to T5 (citizen report or personal observation).

Keeping those apart is what lets this site hold opinions without pretending to be neutral, and report things without pretending opinion is evidence. If the line ever blurs, the labels are worthless — so they're never optional.

Where it's going

Right now this is a publication: one voice, no accounts, nothing to sign up for. The longer-term idea is a civic platform where people take positions on civic content and compare how cities are actually doing — but that only earns its complexity once there are readers, so it waits.

Everything is filed under the same seven categories that platform would use, so nothing written now has to be re-filed later.
